Top Summer Health Tips
1. Break Out the Sunblock - The sun is beginning to stay out longer and rays are stronger. Don't be afraid to smear on some sunblock during the hours the sun is at its strongest (10am - 4pm).
2. Safe Swimming - Summer brings the rise in lake drownings. Take precautionary measures to keep your child safe in the water including, keeping a watchful eye on your child at all times, wear inflatable vests, and teach your child how to swim or at least float in water.
3. Bug Bites No More - In humid southern states, use a bug repellent on your child to prevent nasty bug bites especially mosquito bites, which might carry the west nile virus.
4. Clean the Air - The major cause of allergies is un-clean air. Invest in a hepa filter for your child's room and play area. Vacuum frequently to remove pollen that has flowed into your home and settled in the carpet. Wash sheets in hot water to remove bed bugs and dust mites.5. Don't Overheat - Playing in the sun can make children very hot. Be sure to enforce frequent shaded breaks so your child doesn't overheat.
6. Plenty Of Water - Be sure to keep your children well hydrated during the intense summer days.
