Top Winter Health Tips
1. Car-seats & Fluffy Jackets Don't Mix - Overly puffy children's jackets can introduce unsafe measures if your child is sitting in her carseat. Jackets and too much layered clothing can create slack in the harness which will not hold your child in place ideally during an impact. If the impact is from behind, she will be thrust forward instead of being held securely in the seat.
2. Carry Sanitizing Wipes - When eating out or placing your children in shopping carts, grab a sanitizing wipe out and disinfect the eating area or seating area.
3. Keep 'Em Moist - Cracked lips are no fun especially when they begin to bleed. Keep a stick of chap stick with you to keep your children's lips moist and comfy.
4. Hat Up - Humans lose most of their body heat through our heads. Keep a warm hat on your child's head to keep her overall body temperature warm.
5. Keep Toes Warm - Our outer limbs do not circulate blood as well as our inner body so have your children wear socks to keep their toes warm which in turns keeps their bodies warmer.
6. Icy Conditions - Walking to school in can be tricky if side-walks are slick with ice. Remind children to walk slowly, hold your hand and watch where they step. Black ice can be hard to see so be very cautious.
7. Wash Hands - Upon arriving home from all outings always wash your children's hands with soap and warm water. Hands touch everything, even shopping carts that can contain harmful viruses and bacteria.8. Humidify - Cold weather can bring some pretty dry breathing conditions. If your child has problems breathing at night, snores, or complains of a dry throat and lips, invest in a humidifier for the winter season.
