How Many Layers?

As a first time parent did you ever wonder (are your still) about how warm you should dress your little one? For me, in the beginning I just had my baby wear a shirt and his diaper because he was too small for regular newborn clothing. Of course I wrapped him in two receiving blankets to swaddle him. I also had a hat on his head because that's where infants lose most of their heat.

As a rule of thumb infants need one more layer than we do, so dress your baby warm especially during the winter months. As time passed I had him wear a long-sleeve onsie (those legless shirts) under a layette, but I came to notice that the built-in sock of the layette didn't suffice, his feet were still cold! So I had him wear socks under his layette as well.  I sill have him wear a hat. CONTINUED BELOW

When he goes to bed or takes a nap I place 3 light-weight fleece baby blankets over him as well as the comforter that came with my baby's bedding set. Remember to not dress your little too warm because he may not likely complain as he would if he were cold.
